Member Qualifications
Willingness to maintain the standards, carry out the purpose, and adhere to the policies of AmeriCorps, and the host site. Download the
Member Handbook.
Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to use personal computers with word processing, spreadsheet, internet, and other software as applicable. Ability to use or to learn to use: Skype and online forms
A high school diploma or GED is required for all positions. Some college education is required for certain positions as well.
Ability to operate office equipment as applicable.
Ability to organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines as required.
Effective written and verbal communications skills, pleasant telephone manner, and an attitude of customer service.
Detail-oriented, organization skills, demonstrated people skills, and willingness to work as part of a team effort.
Mature judgement to take initiative where appropriate, to recognize and handle confidential matters in a professional manner.
Means of self-transportation during service hours as needed; proof of meeting Nebraska requirements regarding auto registration, driver's license and auto liability insurance as appropriate.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
Hiring Process
Complete the initial application here. Submit two letters of character reference. Instructions available at the bottom of this page.
Interview with the Hiring Organization and the AmeriCorps Program Supervisor, Director of the Office for Service-Learning at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
Final interview with Host Site supervisor.

Letters of Character Reference
Applicants are required to submit two letters of character reference, one from a current or former faculty member or teacher, and one from a current or former supervisor. Neither should be from a family member. Letters of reference must address the following:
Length and nature of relationship to the applicant Interpersonal relationship skills Integrity and general character
